Chainsaw engine malfunctions are often caused by a clogged carburetor. This is due to the use of low-quality gasoline or foreign particles getting inside the gas tank. To clean the carburetor, it must be completely disassembled.

It is necessary

  • - screwdrivers with flat and cross-shaped blades;
  • - set of wrenches;
  • - cleaning compounds, lint-free cloth;
  • - ultrasonic cavitation bath

Instructions

Step 1

Drain the fuel tank before starting work. Unscrew the fastening screws on the top cover of the chainsaw and remove it. Remove the filter element from the air filter housing and remove the housing itself by unscrewing the nuts. Often, in addition to nuts, the body is held in place by clamps. Flip them off by pressing the corresponding tabs. On the right side of the carburetor, remove the fuel hose and choke rod. After unscrewing the fastening screws and nuts on the carburetor body, remove it and remove the cable end from the throttle actuator lever.

Step 2

On the left side, pull off the fuel supply hose from its fitting. Remove the idle speed adjustment screw and the carburetor top cover retaining screw. Remove the top cap and locate the fuel pump fuel diaphragm that looks like a blue transparent gasket. Locate the spring clip screws on the left side of the case. After removing the brackets, unscrew the screws. Write down, mark or remember their installation locations so as not to be confused during assembly.

Step 3

Unscrew the screws on the lower carburetor cover and remove this cover. Remove the needle valve assembly by unscrewing the screw. Be careful - there is a spring under the two-arm valve actuator lever. After unscrewing the air damper screw, remove it as well. After that, dismantle the axis of this damper by applying force along it. Cover the hole in the air damper axle with your finger in advance so as not to lose the spring-loaded ball in it.

Step 4

Remove the throttle valve by unscrewing the screw that secures it. Then dismantle the lever of its drive and the lock washer. Please note that the throttle valve mounting screws are interchangeable, and the throttle valve lever mounting screw is very similar to them, but has a different length. Do not mix up the screws when assembling. Finally, remove the throttle shaft, remembering its correct position.

Step 5

Lay out all the carburetor parts on the table and inspect them for the purpose of troubleshooting. Replace worn elements and damaged gaskets with new ones. Rinse all parts thoroughly using specialized detergents and wipe dry with a lint-free cloth. Blow out jets and tubes with compressed air. Use a hand or foot air pump for easy purging.

Step 6

In order to increase the efficiency of cleaning the carburetor parts, use an ultrasonic bath that uses the cavitation effect for cleaning. To do this, fill it with gasoline or diesel fuel, lower all the necessary carburetor elements into it and turn it on for 2-3 periods of 5 minutes each. At the end of the process, blow out the parts with compressed air.
