Most modern people interact with the Russian Post much less often than they had to do a couple of decades ago. In order to communicate with friends or relatives from another city, you do not need to order negotiations, because everyone has cell phones. For the same reason, telegrams have become irrelevant, and correspondence by means of letters has almost completely replaced the presence of e-mail and the ability to communicate on social networks. However, sending a parcel to another city is still most convenient at the post office.

Step 1
Make sure that the settlement to which you are going to send the parcel is not on the list of villages or cities inaccessible to employees of the Russian Post at this time of the year. For example, delivery to a number of settlements in the Altai region may be prohibited in the spring due to floods, as well as to some cities in the Vologda and Arkhangelsk regions. Natural conditions have an irresistible influence on the entire course of life in some regions, therefore, in certain months, postal workers simply do not deliver any postal items there.
Step 2
Check in advance (the most convenient way to do this on the Russian Post website) with the list of substances and items prohibited for shipment. These include poisonous and narcotic, as well as caustic, flammable and explosive substances, weapons, stun guns, perishable food, and money. If you ignore this warning and still try to send any of the above, then your parcel will be subject to seizure, and you, as the sender, will bear administrative or criminal responsibility in accordance with the legislation of the Russian Federation.
Step 3
Pack the items to be shipped in a suitable cardboard box purchased from the Russian Post Office. If an empty space remains in it, then it is laid, for example, with newspapers so that the contents of the parcel do not "dangle" in it and do not hit the walls of the box from the inside. If your shipment is very small in size and weight, then it can be packed in a special sealed and opaque plastic bag of the Russian Post.
Step 4
Write the address of the sender and the addressee on the packaging in legible handwriting, paying particular attention to the spelling of the index and the name of the recipient. The postal worker will carefully pack your parcel using special scotch tape, weigh it and give you papers to fill out (notification of delivery, list of attachments), and also announce the amount to be paid for sending the parcel. This amount is added up taking into account the distance of shipment, and the dimensions of the shipment, and the method of shipment, and the declared value of the investment, and the use of cash on delivery. And one more clarification: there are often queues at the Russian Post offices, so make sure you have 1-2 hours of free time before going there in order to send the parcel.
