No matter how ridiculous this word may sound, it should be pronounced correctly, not distorting. Linguists concluded that the word "pipidastry" for the Russian-speaking population sounds somewhat piquant and at the same time vulgar. By the way, it does not mean anything indecent. You should figure out what's what.

What are pipidasters?

In general, pipidasters are Chinese multi-colored panicles designed to brush dust off various household items. Today, you can often hear that a pipidaster is not a Chinese panicle, but a whole pom-pom, with which the so-called cheerleaders perform (sometimes this word is written as cheerleaders, which is a deviation from the rules of the English-Russian transcription).

For those who are not in the know, it should be explained: cheerleading is a kind of sport that combines both elements of spectacular sports (acrobatics, dancing, gymnastics) and just elements of a show. Usually female dancers act in the form of cheerleaders, who are disparagingly called cheerleaders. They dance, merrily waving fluffy pom-poms in their hands. The point of their performances is to support their favorite sports team.

Cheerleading is a separate and independent sport in which competitions are held not only on the scale of Russia. Cheerleading championships are held both in Europe and around the world.

Returning to the main topic of this article, it should be noted that some people mistake these cheerleader pom-poms for the real pom-poms. This is not true! Cheerleader pom-poms are pom-poms, and Chinese dust-brushing pom-poms are pom-poms. In general, these are two different things. It is worth explaining why this simple confusion arose between them.

Why are cheerleading pom-poms and Chinese pompoms confused?

The fact is that the name "pipidastre" comes from the English word PP Duster, however, the external similarity of the cheerleader pom-poms awarded them with an English slang name - duster (or cheering duster). Pom-poms in English are pronounced Pom-Pom. As a result, the words Pom-Pom were reduced to PP and added to the word duster. The output is a funny word PP Duster, one to one similar to the word "pipidaster".

Cheerleading championships are held in several nominations: cheer - elements of artistic gymnastics and acrobatics; chir-dance - sports dances with elements of gymnastics; chir-mix - performances of women and men and other nominations.

That is why it is incorrect to believe that pipidasters are the very pompons that cheerleaders swing at their performances. In addition, the word "pipidastra", heard or seen in one or another context of condemnation (or insult), does not mean anything at all. The author of this statement either does not know the meaning of the word pipidastr, or simply arranged a kind of play on words.
