Charcoal is a high-carbon product that is formed during the pyrolysis of wood. This unique biologically pure product is made from natural raw materials, used in industry and in everyday life. Charcoal is widely used for cooking on the grill and charcoal grill. Don't waste your money on buying charcoal, cook it yourself.
It is necessary
- - shovel;
- - matches;
- - metal vat;
- - a bucket with a lid;
- - firewood;
- - ax;
- - saw.
Instructions
Step 1
There are quite a few ways to make charcoal, one of the simplest is to burn charcoal in a pit. Find a suitable place in the forest with a lot of dry wood (so you don't have to carry far). The space should be as open as possible, firstly, so as not to harm the trees growing nearby, and secondly, so that there is where to put firewood and where to cut them.
Step 2
Take a bayonet shovel and dig as deep a hole as possible, the size may vary depending on the amount of firewood available and the amount of charcoal required. The pit on average should be at least 75 cm in diameter and half a meter in depth. Put the extracted soil in a separate heap in order to fill up the old hole in the future.
Step 3
Tamp the bottom of the hole with your feet so that the ground does not mix with the coal in the future. Lay dry coniferous branches or birch bark on the bottom, a little sawn wood on top. Light a fire with matches, gradually add small dry firewood. When the fire is well lit, you can throw in the main logs (they should be no more than 30 centimeters in diameter).
Step 4
Stack the wood as tightly as possible, and occasionally patch it up with a pole or turn it over. The duration of charcoal cooking depends entirely on the moisture content of the wood, its size and thickness, wood species and weather conditions. On average, the combustion process lasts three hours.
Step 5
To cool the coals, cover the hole with a layer of green grass or leaves, then lay a layer of earth and tamp. Leave the hole in this form for two days, the coals will completely cool down during this time. After this time, remove the layer of earth and shovel out the coal with a shovel. Sift it through a sieve or sieve and collect in bags. Cover the hole with earth and foliage.
Step 6
You can cook charcoal in a different way. To do this, you need a large metal vat. Place the firewood in it. Take a metal bucket with a lid, in which you need to make several holes for the gas to escape, and put some small wood (no thicker than three centimeters in diameter). Light a fire in a vat and place a closed bucket in it. After a few hours, the bucket will form a good, clean coal without the presence of ash.
