Almost the entire territory of Germany is located on a plain that stretches from west to east, from Holland to Poland. In this territory, sea air masses meet with continental ones. Therefore, the climate in Germany is of 3 types: continental, maritime and transitional.

Step 1

“Clear, occasionally partly cloudy and rainy” - such a weather forecast in Germany is almost always relevant, because the country is located in a temperate climatic zone. Here, some regions are characterized by higher temperatures and frequent precipitation, while others are characterized by cool air and dry weather. This is due to the fact that the North and Baltic Seas, as well as the mountain ranges of the Alps, have a huge impact on the country's climate.

Step 2

In the northwest and off the northern coasts of Germany, the climate is maritime. This means that the summers are quite cool here, but the winters are mild. Winds from the sea blow almost constantly here, even storms are possible in winter. And although the temperature does not drop below zero, it is always very humid and windy. The Baltic coast is calmer and less windy, but it is much colder. There are winters when the sea is covered with an ice crust. West Germany (Moselle and Rhine Valley) has a mild and sunny climate. Thanks to such favorable climatic conditions, grapes are even grown here. The east of the country is characterized by much stronger temperature drops. It is much hotter in summer, but at the same time much colder in winter. The southern region is the warmest and sunniest, while the central one is the most cloudy.

Step 3

Winters in Germany are not harsh, but they are accompanied by frequent fogs, especially in the east. There is not much snow here. If it falls out, then it lays no more than 2 months. Even at Christmas, there is not snow every year. In this regard, the Germans even distinguish 2 types of Christmas: white (with snow) and green (without snow). The temperature at this time of the year ranges from -6 ° C (in the mountainous regions - Thuringia, Harz, the foothills of the Alps) to +1, 5 ° C (low north). Summers are mild and somewhat cool, up to + 20 ° С, heavy rains and showers are frequent. And only in the southern part of the country, which is not protected by the Alpine mountains, the air sometimes warms up to + 30-35 ° С.

Step 4

As for precipitation, it is mostly in the south. Here they fall out about 2000 mm per year. In the north, rainy weather is much less frequent, the level of precipitation does not exceed 700 mm.

Step 5

When planning a trip to Germany, it should be borne in mind that warm weather is already firmly established here at the end of May. But do not flatter yourself. In mid-June it can get quite cold and very cold. The hottest season comes at the end of July and lasts until mid-August. The end of summer is considered to be the best time to visit the forests of Bavaria and Thuringia.
