It is not difficult to breed quail at home, the main thing is to provide them with living conditions (a sufficient amount of light, warmth, drink and food). One individual produces approximately 300 eggs per year. As a rule, birds are unpretentious.
Necessary
- - tray;
- - cell;
- - incubator;
- - quail eggs;
- - moss, straw.
Instructions
Step 1
First, decide where you will keep the quail. Birds can be raised in a city apartment, private house, garage, summer cottage, etc. After that, purchase quail eggs to breed chicks. You can buy them at the store or from experienced breeders. The main thing is that the eggs are not dietary.
Step 2
Buy a canary or parrot cage, it is suitable for keeping 2-3 birds and one cockerel. Line the bottom of the cage with hay or moss, this is necessary so that the birds can actively move, search for food, thereby increasing their weight and egg production. Install a tray with sand in the cages, purchase a drinking cup with an automatic water supply and install a feeder.
Step 3
Add chopped eggs, carrots, and herbs to the feed daily. Give the quail antibiotics periodically under the supervision of your veterinarian. Give the birds water once a month, to which add a weak solution of potassium permanganate. These measures will help prevent parasite infestation.
Step 4
In addition, if you are going to grow quail, provide them with the required temperature regime. The room should have a humidity level of at least 60-70% and 16-20 degrees Celsius. Make a special enclosure, as a rule, such structures are not for sale. Or contact those who will make it for you to order. Containment trays can be wood or plastic, with mesh or plywood partitions. For lighting, 60 W incandescent lamps are sufficient.
Step 5
Purchase an incubator to hatch new chicks. As a rule, one individual can be carried for about a year, then it is slaughtered and then it is better to breed new offspring. Meat breeds should be slaughtered at the age of 2-3 months, at which time maximum weight gain is achieved.
Step 6
Feed your quail two to three times a day. Monitor the quality of the water poured. In the first weeks of life, give the birds only boiled water, then you can pour raw water. The main thing is that it is defended.
Step 7
Quail eggs begin to lay eggs from 2-3 months, this is the most optimal age. Until this age, the bird's body has not matured, in some cases the quails begin to rush at 3-4 months of age, which is associated with the conditions of keeping and feeding.
