Replicas of real watches can be divided into 3 categories. The first section includes the cheapest fakes at a price of 100 to 600 rubles. Such watches have a lot of flaws that are visible to the naked eye. The second category includes more expensive counterfeits, but the watches of the third category are quite difficult to distinguish from the original.
Instructions
Step 1
First, look at the numbers and serifs on the dial. In cheap copies, they are offset and slightly rotated along the axis when compared to the original. If you have ever seen a real Swiss watch, in most cases you will be able to distinguish a fake with the naked eye. The dials of the cheapest fakes are made of cardboard, which is difficult to find out at first glance, but if a minimum amount of water gets into the device's case, the drawback will immediately manifest.
Step 2
Pay attention to the case, strap or bracelet. On fake watches, the printing of the inscriptions is not uniform, since the manufacturers of fakes use only flat stamps on the entire surface, which can be erased over time. Therefore, the protruding letters and words are not printed in sufficient volume and clearly.
Step 3
Counterfeit cases are rarely made of precious metals. Usually watches are made of brass with poor-quality gilding, which is quickly erased and begins to peel off. Examine the case carefully for abrasions. Look at the engraving on the back of the watch. Cheap fakes usually do not have it.
Step 4
The mechanism of the highest quality fakes can be Chinese, Japanese, and sometimes Swiss (some mechanisms are smuggled, as a result of which the cost drops significantly). Pay attention to the direction of the arrow. In quartz movements, the second hand moves in leaps and bounds from division to division, while in mechanical watches it moves smoothly.
Step 5
The highest quality counterfeits are called replicas and can be encrusted with diamonds that are of low clarity. Cases are polished where necessary, and often such replicas differ from real Swiss watches only in that they are not made in a factory in Switzerland.
Step 6
If you are buying a jewelry watch, then slide your finger along the bezel of diamonds. For replicas, all stones have a different embedment depth, some of the stones can protrude or sink.
