Over time, "working" skates - whether it is equipment for figure skating or running - lose their visual appeal, cuts, cracks in the skin, and scuffs appear. However, athletes do not like to change the "targeted" shoes, and therefore try to prolong their life as much as possible and mask the shortcomings of skates by painting.

Necessary

fine-grained skin, acetone or alcohol, automobile primer paint in the form of an aerosol, enamel, masking tape

Instructions

Step 1

Sand the surface of the skates with fine-grained sandpaper in light circular motions. On the nose of the skate, you need to skin with a movement away from you, as if sweeping away particles of skin, so the fibers will fall in one direction when painting. If you are afraid to ruin your shoes, then you do not need to sand, only then some scratches will be visible.

Step 2

Then degrease the treated surface, otherwise the paint will lie unevenly. Use a soft, lint-free cloth to wipe down all wiped areas. Do not soak the skin with acetone, just wipe it off.

Step 3

Using masking tape, limit the area to be painted and apply a coat of primer. The skates should not get wet from it, while the top layer should still be well saturated.

Step 4

Wait until the primer is completely dry. Do not use hair dryers, do not put shoes on heating radiators. Dry naturally at room temperature.

Step 5

Sand the surface with zero sandpaper. Apply final paint. Keep the aerosol can no closer than 20 cm from the surface, otherwise you cannot avoid smudges. As a rule, the paint lays down unevenly, but do not immediately try to paint over the spots. Let the skates dry - the paint will be evenly distributed, and you will see where you need to touch up the coating. You can apply up to four layers, and the last one should be done at a distance of 30-40 cm - then the aerosol will lie flat.

Step 6

Wait for the paint to dry and then remove the tape from the skates. In order for the skates to acquire a fashionable gloss, apply one coat of car varnish, after forty minutes you can apply another coat. If the shine is not enough, then after an hour you can cover the skates with a third coat of varnish. That's the whole process of painting skates. Scratches, scuffs and frayed socks are no longer visible and your skates look like new.
