Nowadays, they know how to fake almost everything. But not a single fake will cost you so much as purchasing a piece of jewelry that is not of the same grade as indicated on the jewelry. Pseudo jewelers invent new alloys. And even very experienced masters of their craft will not be able to immediately identify a fake. How to determine the authenticity of gold?
Instructions
Step 1
To determine the authenticity of gold, you need to inspect the entire surface of the jewelry. It must be done by the master neatly, perfectly smoothly. The attachments of the stones should not be visible to the human eye. The better all these indicators are, the higher the production class. If there are cracks and holes on the product, this should immediately alert you.
Step 2
In order to check the real gold in front of you or not, you can use an old tool. Drop the ring on a flat surface, preferably on a table. Gold is sure to emit a characteristic crystal ringing. Any other alloys do not possess such musicality. Alternatively, you can try throwing the ring edge-on to the tiled floor. Real gold will necessarily jump across tiles, but any other metal will not.
Step 3
The authenticity of a piece of jewelry can be verified by applying a drop of iodine to its surface. You need to wait three minutes, then wipe this place with a soft cloth. If the iodine imprint is not noticeable on the product, then the gold is real. You can check the decoration in a similar way, but only using vinegar.
Step 4
A lapis pencil is sold in pharmacies. Get it. Moisten a pencil with saliva and rub the product lightly with it. If gold is tampered with, it will turn black.
Step 5
One of the easiest ways to identify counterfeit gold is through its magnetization ability. Real gold is not attracted by a magnet. This means that if your product is easily magnetized, then it has a low standard or there is simple gilding.
Step 6
Also, authenticity can be established by rubbing the adornment on unburned ceramic tiles. Pay attention to the remaining traces. The counterfeit should leave dark prints.
