Ventilation in houses is organized using ventilation systems and ventilation ducts, which are usually covered with special grilles. Internal grilles are used for the house.
Internal ventilation grilles are of three types:
- adjustable, - unregulated, - inertial.
The adjustable grille is produced with built-in glands, which can be used to regulate the flow of incoming air, the unregulated grill is devoid of them, so the air is supplied in any quantity. Inertial grilles can automatically shut off the air flow.
Ventilation grilles are made of the following materials:
- aluminum;
- wood;
- plastic;
- metal.
Installation of a grille with an inner frame
Installing the grill is easy. First, you need to dismantle the old grille so as not to damage the edges of the duct. If you are installing a ventilation grill with an inner frame, you will need to divide it into two structural parts and fit the inner frame to the duct window. The frame must fit snugly to the window, otherwise, it is necessary to carry out sealing work. For example, place a piece of wood or polystyrene under the edges of the frame.
The inner grille is mounted to the wall using self-tapping screws or special glue, after which the outer one is inserted. In the absence of distortions and deformation of the frame during installation, the outer grille will easily enter the grooves, and the fasteners will snap into place.
Installation of a grille without a frame
The ventilation grill without an inner frame is a simple flat grille that is attached to the edge of the ventilation window with self-tapping screws or with glue.
Before installation, you must try on its size to the ventilation window. The optimal size is when the decorative edge of the lattice overlaps the wall by 3-5 centimeters.
It is recommended to outline the grate on the wall, mark the position of the screws, and then drive a dowel into the wall. Having tried on the lattice for fidelity, you can proceed to the actual fastening.
Fastening with glue and liquid nails is also possible, but this is not the best option, primarily due to its unreliability. In addition, if it is necessary to change the grating, you will have to tear it off, damaging the wallpaper or painting the walls. Choose a thick adhesive for fastening. Instant formulations will not work, so consider how you will fix the grid before the glue dries.
Frameless grilles with clips
Ventilation grilles with clips are an excellent alternative to frameless grilles. They cannot be used on concrete ventilation ducts in high-rise buildings, but they are perfect for country houses and modern buildings.
Such grilles have a spacer attachment that is fixed to the wall of the duct. All that remains is to apply and fix the decorative part of the grille using the clips that come with the kit.
