The word "ventilation" comes from the Latin "ventilatio" - "ventilation". Ventilation systems are designed to remove air from rooms and replace it with fresh outside air. At the same time, the outside air can undergo additional processing - it can be heated or cooled, cleaned of dust, humidified, ionized, etc.

The main purpose of ventilation systems is to provide conditions in the room that are comfortable for humans. The air must comply with sanitary standards and technical requirements for building structures and technological processes that are carried out indoors.

By the way the air is set in motion, ventilation is divided into two large groups - natural and artificial. In the case of natural ventilation, air exchange occurs by itself, due to the difference in pressure between the indoor and outdoor air. Natural ventilation can be carried out through leaks in structures, doorways, open vents or through special exhaust openings and ventilation ducts. With artificial ventilation, the air is driven by fans mounted on electric motors. Unlike natural ventilation, mechanical ventilation is capable of circulating air regardless of external environmental conditions.

Depending on the purpose, ventilation systems are divided into exhaust and supply systems. Exhaust ventilation ensures that exhaust air is removed from the room, while supply ventilation, on the contrary, pumps fresh air. The advantage of supply ventilation is the ability to heat or cool the supplied air, which allows you to create a favorable microclimate in the room.

Fans used in artificial ventilation systems are divided into several types - they can be duct, radial, axial, roof, etc. The axial fan is mounted on the axle of the electric motor. When it rotates, the blades capture air and pump it in the direction of the axis of rotation. Radial fans do not have the usual axis and when they rotate, they supply air in a direction perpendicular to the axis of rotation. Compared to radial fans, axial fans have a higher efficiency and can be used to blow large volumes of air. Radial fans, on the other hand, are more energy efficient and produce less noise.
