Canna is considered a versatile plant that can be grown not only indoors in pots, but also outdoors in flower beds. This plant differs from other flowers in beautiful flowers, decorative leaves and very beautiful fruits. Having grown such an original flower on your site or at home, you will truly get great pleasure.
Instructions
Step 1
In March or April, it is necessary to divide the plant with rhizomes, so you can multiply them for further growth. Clean the plant from soil and rotten or dried out parts, divide them by the number of tubers (buds). If they are located close to each other, then leave both, do not separate them, the plant will grow stronger and more powerful. Treat the sections with a weak solution of potassium permanganate, if this is not possible, rub them with wood resin. Thanks to this, you can avoid contamination of the flower with fungal infections.
Step 2
Half of the tubers (delenok) can be stored in sawdust, and the second part can be grown in boxes or other containers (they will begin to bloom earlier). For planting, use the following mixture: one part of peat, one part of sand and one part of black soil. It is not necessary to plant the plants deeply, but you need to completely cover it with earth from above. The most optimal temperature for growing cannes is + 20-25 degrees.
Step 3
After the cannes sprout and the first leaves appear, keep the temperature at 16 degrees with sufficient light, otherwise the plant will stretch out quickly. Water (a weak solution of potassium permanganate) once every ten days, this will be enough for better rooting of the divisions. If yellowed leaves appear, this is the first sign of fungal diseases of the flower. In this case, it is recommended to increase the concentration of potassium permanganate. After spring frosts, you can plant established cannes in open ground.
Step 4
The most important condition for growing cannes is a sufficiently sunny area, which must be protected from strong winds. As well as abundant and regular watering. Planting flowers should be carried out in cultivated and fertilized soil (4-5 kg per square meter of humus). Depending on the variety and type of plant, plant it according to one of the following schemes: 40x40, 40x60 or 70x70 centimeters. If the plant is germinated, then the planting depth should be 10-15 centimeters, not germinated - 5-7 centimeters.
Step 5
From the moment the flowers are planted, it is necessary to provide it with regular loosening and weeding, as well as abundant watering. Feed the cannes with mineral fertilizers periodically (2-3 times per season). From time to time, remove dried inflorescences that have already faded and enjoy the beauty of these extraordinary flowers.
