A wooden floor is great. Wood is a warm, "live", natural, durable material. But it also becomes unusable during operation and requires repair or complete replacement.

Step 1
The service life of wooden floors is designed for 25-30 years. Over time, the board is affected by a fungus, it can rot, it begins to sag, creak, cracks appear. Old problem floors require drastic intervention. Dismantle the floor, tear off the boards carefully, they will be useful for creating a rough flooring. Examine the logs, if they are in good condition, limit yourself to replacing the damaged areas. Lay old planks over repaired veins. Rough flooring is a good base for laminate, linoleum, parquet boards.
Step 2
If you want to have a wooden floor in the apartment, then completely replace the worn-out logs, make new veins from the old floor block. The problem of delivering new building material to the premises remains. It is inconvenient to lift long, six-meter boards into the apartment. Agree with suppliers to cut them to the correct size, while choosing the smallest length, even if you have to lay the floor in the transverse direction.
Step 3
Before starting, treat the wood with biopregnant, it will protect against fungus, and with a fire retardant, it will increase fire resistance. Start laying from the wall, leaving a crack, then cover it with a baseboard. Do not rush to fix the blocks, lay them down and leave them alone for 3-4 weeks, the floor should "lie down", haste will cause it to warp, cracks will appear. Boards with tongue and groove allow you to fit them very tightly, without gaps, you can enhance the quality by gluing the joints.
Step 4
If you wish to have a modern flooring, remove the wood floor and fill in the concrete screed. Carry out preparatory work before installation. Clean the underfloor space from debris, install waterproofing, for this use plastic wrap, glue the damper tape around the perimeter. Make a backing of expanded clay or expanded clay sand.
Step 5
For pouring, you can prepare a cement-sand mortar yourself, but it is easier to use ready-made dry compounds, they dry quickly, and they are easy to level. In self-leveling mixtures, this process is minimized. An excellent option is backfill floors or dry screed. Pour expanded clay of the required height and on top of it lay sheets of gypsum fiber 2 cm thick. The concrete screed needs a finishing coating. There are various options - laminate, parquet, linoleum, carpet, ceramic tiles, self-leveling floor.
