To roll a cigar without tobacco leaves of a certain type, type and size, without special devices, and most importantly, without experience, is a hopeless enterprise. But it doesn't hurt to know how those who have all of the listed capabilities are available.
Necessary
- - 3-5 filling tobacco leaves;
- - connecting sheet;
- - wrapper leaf;
- - plant glue, tasteless and odorless;
- - Press form;
- - a sharp knife;
- - manual guillotine.
Instructions
Step 1
Remove all stems and veins from the tobacco leaf, moisten dry tobacco leaves by keeping them in a sufficiently humid room or moistening with water. Twist 3-5 tobacco leaves for the filling with bundles, place the bundles on the binding sheet and wrap the bundles in it, using the same movements as you would roll out the dough. The density of the filling should be uniform along the entire length.
Step 2
Put this blank in a special mold (two wooden boards with semicircular grooves on the surface, put blanks in one, cover the other on top) to give the cigar the desired shape and leave it for at least half an hour. The diameter of a cigar varies from 10 to 20 mm. Make sure that the filling is not too tight or too loosely twisted, as this will affect the speed of combustion of the cigar, its draft, and, consequently, the sensation of smoking (at factories, hand-rolled cigars after passing through the press are checked for draft and comfort).
Step 3
Choose a tobacco sheet for the wrapper: perfectly flat and thin, without damage, and even in color. Lay the tobacco wrapper with the outside side down, cut a wide tape out of it, place the blank on it and wrap it in a spiral from one end to the other with even pressure. The tension of the wrapper should be perfectly uniform during the wrapping process.
Step 4
Make a "cap" of the cigar: cut a flag-shaped fragment from the wrapper leaf, wrap it around the lower end of the cigar to secure the wrapper leaf. Cut a small circle out of the wrapper and attach it to the head of the cigar. Use a plant glue that is tasteless and odorless (in Cuba, tragacanth gum is used).
Step 5
Cut the cigar to the desired length from the open edge using a manual guillotine (a classic straight cigar is 10 to 22 cm long). Place the cigars made in this way in an oven (humidity up to 40%) for two weeks.
