Do you love autumn? I really love this time of year, especially the period with yellow, fiery red foliage. Probably because I myself have such a shade of hair.
As a child, of course, I, as well as other "children of the sun" got it. In the yard and on the street - shouts of peers or older children, with an abundance of comments about hair color. But time passed and, somehow, the red color was no longer an object of ridicule. Even as a child, I learned not to respond to offensive words, and after that I did not attach any importance to this fact at all. Occasionally, however, it is now necessary to catch the glances of giggling girls, staring at the hair, but that's all.
And somehow the question of the existence of redheads became interesting to me, is it true that they are as special as my mother told me. In response to my request, the Internet gave me a bunch of interesting information!
Let's start with the origin. There are two versions here. The first is that people got red hair from their ancestors - Neanderthals. It is known that this type of people was distinguished by fair skin and blond hair, inhabited part of modern Europe and Russia and became extinct, leaving behind descendants. The Neanderthals were a rather bloodthirsty and militant people, cunning and resourceful, but something ruined them, probably the rebellious "homosapiens".
The descendants of the red are also called the Celts, a people who also had a militant character. They firmly established themselves in several European states, and took root in Russia. Over time, they "mixed" with other peoples, but their culture is revered in Britain, Ireland and Scotland, like all red-haired people.
The second version of the appearance of redheads is slightly "cosmic" in nature. Scientists have determined that people with this hair color are less sensitive to sunlight and are more likely to get skin cancer. At the same time, they have a high sensitivity to pain and a very susceptible nervous system. And also, redheads have the smallest amount of hair on their heads (about 80 thousand), but they are much thicker than blondes and brunettes. And the genes are some other, scientists professors say.
And, in addition, in the Middle Ages, for some reason, they strongly took up arms against red-haired women, seeing them as witches. Although it is true, people with this hair color have psychic abilities, which has already been proven.
From here a rather amusing hypothesis appeared about the coming of red-haired people "from the depths of the galaxy" a long time ago to our planet …
However, these are all the wisdom of scientists. Let's turn to historical facts. In ancient Egypt, red-haired youths and girls were sacrificed to the god Amon-Ra in order to have a rich harvest. Fiery hair color was considered the color of a golden, healthy grain. In the troubled times of the Middle Ages, red-haired women were tested for the presence of witchcraft. They tied the accused's right thumb with the left big toe and threw her into a pond. If the accused was drowning, she is not guilty. If she was on the surface and tried to free herself, then a fire was waiting for her.
In Russia, even Peter I was suspicious of redheads, apparently having adopted the habit of the Europeans (although not all of them were subjected to the oppression of the "sunny"). He issued a decree that people with this hair color are not allowed to hold public office and testify in courts (!).
Another interesting fact from Russian history. The party of the Bolsheviks who came to power in 1917 can be safely called the “party of the redheads”. Lenin, his mistress Inessa Armand, Mrs. Krupskaya herself, Bukharin, Abel Yenukidze (a major party leader), spy Malinovsky. They were all redheads! And, probably, everyone knows what the coup of 1917 led to.
Whether such people are from another planet, who came from a parallel universe, or are they still descendants of Neanderthals - it seems to me that this is not important. What matters is how we perceive a person, whether he is good or bad, as children like to say. "Red-red, freckled" - will be carried around all yards for a long time.
