Forest fires cause tremendous harm to nature - many plants, animals and birds die during combustion. Every year, thousands of hectares of beautiful and dense forest turn into lifeless places where nothing living will grow for a long time. To prevent this terrible disaster, each person should be careful when handling fire.
Fires, of course, also occur for natural reasons, for example, from a lightning strike on a dry plant. In this case, it is practically impossible to prevent a catastrophe. But most fires happen through the fault of a person who does not follow the rules for handling fire in dry and windy weather.
First of all, you need to be careful when building a fire. If there is no special need, you should refrain from a fire in dry weather, and even more so in strong winds. It is necessary to light a fire in specially designated places, and if this is not possible, on sandy and pebble surfaces located next to water bodies or rivers. But next to dry grass or peat bogs, in no case should you make a fire.
Before leaving the resting place, you should carefully extinguish the fire, flood it and the place around it with plenty of water or cover it with earth. Remove all debris, including glass containers, which have the effect of a magnifying glass and can easily ignite dry grass. Also, do not leave rags soaked in flammable substances and any containers in the forest.
If you notice a small area of burning or even smoldering grass, you should immediately stop the flame - cover it with sand, earth, fill it with water, cover with a wet rag or cover it with wet leaves, and then trample it down. In the event that the area of the fire is too large, you should leave the dangerous place as soon as possible and call the fire department.
Seasonal burning of leaves or grass is a very common cause of forest fires. Despite requests from special authorities not to do this and informing about the possible consequences of such "cleanings", millions of people continue to burn entire areas around their houses, as a result of which the fire spreads to nearby trees, is caught by the wind and spreads to whole hectares. To protect the forest from fire, one must not only not commit such actions, but also not ignore such crimes, for which, by the way, administrative and criminal liability is provided.
