More than 15 million people live in Moscow, and their number is constantly growing. Legal and illegal migrants, citizens of Russia from other cities - they all strive to the capital to earn money and to dream of a beautiful life.
Today Moscow is the fastest growing city in Russia. Therefore, there is nothing strange in the fact that many hundreds of thousands of people are striving to get there. However, is life in the capital worth leaving your hometown and moving?
The advantages of living in the capital
As with any problematic issue, the move to Moscow has supporters and opponents. Proponents describe the many advantages of such a move: living in a beautiful city with developed infrastructure, modern buildings, many cultural attractions and huge career opportunities. Indeed, life in Moscow promises many opportunities. The first is high salaries. In the capital, you can find a company and work of any profile. In whatever field you are a specialist and whatever position you have previously held, here you will find relevant vacancies. The need for new personnel does not dry up, because new jobs are constantly being created.
It is almost impossible to stay out of work here, provided there is a good search and interest in activities, of course. In addition, the level of wages simply cannot be compared with the regions: incomes in Moscow are two or even three to four times higher than in the provinces. It is also possible to make a career here, you just need perseverance, hard work, courage and a little audacity.
And all the conditions have been created for the family: a high level of education in schools, a large number of educational institutions of various profiles, centers for additional education. There is always where to go as a child and what to do with the younger generation - cultural, entertainment centers, museums, theaters, concerts - all this is created for interesting, fun and entertaining leisure. It would seem that Moscow is an ideal place to move out of the provinces and try to provide yourself with a decent life.
Disadvantages of Moscow
However, if everything were that simple, the capital would have already grown to incredible proportions. Yet life in this city is not as easy as it might seem at first glance.
A huge number of newcomers make Moscow closer and closer. It seems as if people are everywhere here: they gather in crowds on the subway, in surface transport, in queues. Constant construction, noise, incessant flow of people, irritation, traffic jams sometimes heat up the atmosphere to the limit. A huge number of migrants, residents of neighboring states, creates the impression that they have to live not in Russia at all, but in some other country. And the attitude towards Russians from other cities in the capital is not the best: you need to be prepared for the fact that you will have to face hostility or disrespect at work. Prices for housing, rent, food, services are incredibly high. Even with a good income, keep in mind that most of the salary will have to be paid for housing, food and travel.
So, from a relatively high income, not so much will remain. And it does not guarantee in any way that one day you will be able to save up for your own housing in the capital - prices for it are not in vain called one of the highest in the world. Even in relatively expensive and prosperous Europe, apartments cost several times less than in Moscow. And if the majority of newcomers never satisfy the first human need - to find a home of their own - is it worth counting on further benefits in this city? Perhaps it is better to think about the fact that in your region you can have a good job, be a useful specialist for the country, while having every chance of earning money for your own home and finding prosperity.
