If the bath has chipped enamel over many years of service and persistent rust has formed on it, then it's time to change it. Buying a new bath is not cheap and installation is troublesome. The best solution is to restore with liquid acrylic or buy an acrylic liner in an old bathtub. In both cases, the work does not take long, and the bath looks completely new.

Necessary

  • 1) liquid acrylic;
  • 2) hardener;
  • 3) rubber spatula.

Instructions

Step 1

Use a drill and emery wheel to remove rust and enamel from the entire tub. Wear a respirator and goggles. Remove the dust carefully and rinse it off with water. Dry your bathtub with a hairdryer and degrease if necessary. The bathtub is prepared for acrylic casting or acrylic liner installation.

Step 2

Isolate and plug drain and overflow to prevent liquid acrylic from entering drains. Dilute liquid acrylic with hardener and place a container of acrylic in the tub for easy handling. From the container from under the hardener, make a watering can for acrylic, from which you will pour the bath, for this, cut off the upper part of the container at an angle.

Step 3

Cover the floor and cover the walls at the outside corners of the tub with newspaper to avoid staining them with liquid acrylic. Protect your hands with rubber gloves. Start pouring the bath from the sides, acrylic flows under its own weight into the bathroom, forming a perfectly flat surface.

Step 4

Use a spatula to fill in the uncovered areas on the sides and level the bottom of the tub. After two hours, remove the insulation from the drain and overflow, change the gratings. You can use the bathroom after 36 hours. The service life of a bath restored with liquid acrylic is 10-15 years.
