According to the observations of both scientists and experienced beekeepers, many types of bees sting only in the most extreme cases and almost never attack without reason. These insects attack a person only if they see him as a threat. In particular, we are talking about protecting the hive or honey, so professionals never work in an apiary without wearing a special protective suit. Also, paradoxically, a bee can sting a person if it wants to protect itself. This means that if you squeeze the insect in your hand, you will most likely get a painful bite.

There are a number of non-obvious reasons why bees can sting. For example, these insects cannot stand strong odors. They especially dislike the harsh scent of perfume, although they can react to the smell of sweat as well. Bees sting people in dark clothes much more often than in light ones. Why this happens is unknown, however, in order to protect themselves, beekeepers wear a light protective suit to work with hives.

The smell of smoke can also cause bees to attack people. Scientists believe that this reaction is due to a special instinct that associates the smell of smoke with forest fires that destroy honey and insect dwellings. The goal of the bees in this case is to collect honey as quickly as possible and fly away to a safe place, and any creature that gets in their way is perceived as a threat that needs to be eliminated. It is also important to be aware that bees react aggressively to their own venom. This means that if you have been stung by at least one bee, other insects will immediately feel it and can also attack you.

The aggressiveness of bees directly depends on their breed. For example, Carpathians are considered the most calm. They rarely attack people and do not always defend themselves even in the event of a serious threat. Central Russian and Caucasian bees are much more aggressive. Some of these insects in special cases can even sting a person for no apparent reason.
