All fakes feel warmer to the touch than real stone. Take aquamarine with tweezers and touch it with the tip of your tongue - it should be cold.

Emeralds are increasingly being refined, since the price of this stone directly depends on the hue and color saturation. Artificial refinement significantly reduces the value of the stone. Emeralds are produced by a number of companies, the methods of producing emeralds are being improved more and more, and it is almost impossible to distinguish a synthetic stone from a natural one. But there is one characteristic that will help you see the sign of a synthetic stone - twisted veils.

A natural and high-quality ruby in its value can be equivalent to the price of a diamond. A real stone is not devoid of microscopic inclusions and defects. But there are several popular ways by which you can identify a natural ruby: if you put a mineral in a glass container, a red color will come from it; if you put the mineral in a glass of milk, it will turn slightly pink; if you look at the mineral from one angle - it is pale, from another angle - dark red.

When you touch natural topaz, you will feel its smooth and cool surface. If you rub a stone with a woolen material, it will attract small particles of paper to itself. If you lower it to the bottom of the container with methylene iodide, it will sink to the bottom, the fake will remain floating on the surface.

Amber is often found in jewelry. It is counterfeited with plastic and inferior minerals. If you bring a match to amber, a characteristic smell of resin will come from it, and from a plastic fake it will smell like plastic. Natural stone becomes electrified from friction with a woolen cloth, but if there is no electrification, then you have a fake. Put 10 teaspoons of salt in a glass of water and mix thoroughly, natural amber will float on the surface, and imitations will sink. Do not forget to rinse the stone thoroughly with water after this test, otherwise a salt crust may form.
