Industrial work is often dangerous and life-threatening. Construction site, foundry, coal mine - all these places have special conditions that require compliance with safety regulations. For these purposes, production standards provide for the use of special protective devices. One of these tools is a helmet.

What is a helmet for?

Head injuries are common in industrial settings. They often lead to serious consequences that can permanently disable the employee. A variety of objects falling from a height can cause injuries.

Boards, beams, other cargo moving through the air, improperly fixed tools - all this may well lead to industrial injuries.

What is the risk of falling on the head of massive objects? This can lead to severe fractures of the bones of the skull and even the cervical vertebrae. Extensive brain damage is possible without displacement and bone fracture, which in itself can cause internal bleeding and disrupt the functioning of various parts of the brain. It should be remembered that even a slight concussion of the brain does not go away for a person without consequences.

To protect the head of the worker during production work, they began to use protective helmets. For the first time, these devices have appeared in industries where they are engaged in the extraction of minerals. Subsequently, helmets began to be widely used in the timber industry, construction and metallurgy. This made it possible to significantly reduce industrial injuries and saved more than one life.

Helmet: effective head protection

Safety rules prescribe the use of helmets wherever there is a risk of injury to a person from falling objects on the head. Be aware, however, that a significant proportion of head injuries occur when a foreign object strikes from the side rather than vertically. This feature is also taken into account when developing various designs of protective helmets.

But shock protection isn't the helmet's only purpose. It can also protect against other negative effects, such as electric shock, acid burns or high temperatures.

Safety helmets for workers of different specialties have their own design and are made of the most suitable materials: polyethylene, vinyl plastic, textolite or fiberglass.

The helmet is designed so that it can limit the force of impact and distribute it over a large area. For this purpose, helmets are equipped with a shock-absorbing device that follows the shape of the head. The body of this protective equipment is made very solid, giving it a rounded and streamlined shape that does not have sharp corners. The helmet is manufactured in such a way that it can withstand severe deformation. The internal fittings of the device are very effective at absorbing impact energy.
