On board the new train is the inscription "50 years of the first manned flight into space." The first flight was launched on April 6 last year. Now the electric train runs constantly on the Moscow-Gagarin route.

Sergei Antufiev, Governor of Smolensk, who spoke at the presentation in 2011, noted that the feat of Smolensk resident Gagarin was possible thanks to the work of thousands of people and, of course, thanks to his own perseverance and dedication.

The head of the region noted that it was from this station, later named after him, that Gagarin went to enter the industrial-technical school in Lyubertsy, later he traveled by rail to Orenburg, where he became a military pilot. The staff of the railway decided to commemorate the fiftieth anniversary of manned space flight with an electric train named in honor of this event.

The presentation of the new composition was also attended by relatives of the great cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, cosmonaut vice-president of Russian Railways Oleg Atkov, chairman of the Road Committee of the Russian trade union of railway workers and transport builders Nikolai Sinitsyn, head of the Moscow railway Vladimir Moldaver. In addition, the celebration was attended by veterans of the railway, eyewitnesses to the renaming of the city and the station, as well as the installation of a monument to Gagarin on the station square, residents of the city of Gagarin.

During the presentation, flowers were laid at the monument to Yuri Alekseevich, and the event ended with a fireworks display.

Not long before that, a number of events took place in the city, such as: a photo exhibition on the theme of the first flight into space, a film screening in the waiting room, etc.

Today trains on the route Moscow - Gagarin pass the following settlements and stations: Begovaya, Setun, Kubinka 1, Mozhaisk, 144 Km Stopping Point, Kolesniki.
