Step 1

Materials with sketches of the Tokyo Skytree TV tower were presented to the public in 2006, and a year later a vote was held, during which the developers decided on the name of the structure. The shade of silver chosen for the tower is officially named Skytree White. Initially, it was assumed that the TV tower will have a height of 610 meters.

Step 2

The ceremony to start construction of the tower took place on July 14, 2008. Already in August 2009, the building reached a height of 100 meters. In October of the same year, the developers decided to change the design height from 610 to 634 m, so that it becomes the highest in the world. And in November, the TV tower reached a height of 200 meters.

Step 3

In February 2010, the tower's height was increased to 300 meters, and in March - to 338 meters. It was at this moment that she became the tallest structure in Japan. In April, a 1:25 scale model of a TV tower was built in one of the Japanese parks. In July, the height of the tower reached 400 meters, and in December - 500 meters.

Step 4

In March 2011, the tower reached the 600-meter mark. It became higher than the TV towers located in Moscow and Toronto, but it still had to "overtake" a similar structure in Guangzhou. Finally, in March, it reached its design height of 634 m, and in May, four tower cranes were dismantled, with the help of which its construction was carried out. In November, the record was officially registered in the Guinness Book.

Step 5

Due to the 2011 earthquake and tsunami, the commissioning of the TV tower was delayed. The finishing works were completed in February 2012 and the opening ceremony took place in March. Bright LED lighting for the structure was soon turned on. Note that 634 meters is the height of the antenna system. The roof of the building is located at an elevation of 495 meters, and the last floor is at an altitude of 450 meters. The tower houses nine digital television transmitters (eight 10-kilowatt and one 3-kilowatt), as well as two 44-kilowatt analog radio transmitters.
