Small-scale earthquakes occur every day in different parts of the Earth and do not bring tangible harm to people. But sometimes they turn into a real disaster, destroying everything in their path.
Instructions
Step 1
If you receive an earthquake warning signal, turn on your TV or radio to become familiar with the situation. Listen carefully to the instructions and recommendations and, if necessary, begin to prepare for the evacuation.
Step 2
Tell as many people around you as possible this information. If time permits, email them or make calls. Do not waste precious minutes splashing out emotions, limit yourself to a few words that convey the essence.
Step 3
Gather the people living with you and start preparing for the evacuation together. Gather essentials, including documents and valuables. Take water in a sealed container and some canned food.
Step 4
Take any protective equipment available: respirators, gas masks, gauze bandages. Stock up on warm clothing.
Step 5
Turn off the power in the room, close all windows and doors. Go outside with your family as soon as possible, taking your portable receiver with you. Help neighbors who are unable to leave the premises on their own.
Step 6
Try to reach an open area, move away from buildings and power lines. If the earthquake has already begun, knock on all doors along the way. Do not use the elevator, only use the stairs.
Step 7
If you cannot leave the building right now, stand in a corner near the load-bearing wall. Stay away from windows, chandeliers, shelves and cabinets. As a last resort, sit under a table or bed.
Step 8
After the disaster strikes, try to leave the shelter as soon as possible, along the way, render all possible assistance to the victims. If you are only slightly affected, you can save someone else's life. Therefore, try not to leave the scene.
Step 9
Use any suitable tool to reach people under the rubble. Be careful, soberly assess the situation and the possibility of repeated strikes.
Step 10
If you are in a car or public transport during an earthquake, please leave the passenger compartment. If you are traveling by subway or train, follow the driver's instructions. Don't panic.
Step 11
Don't panic is a key recommendation in this situation, in principle. It is on your sober mind that the salvation of your life and the lives of those around you largely depends.
