Despite the fact that a person is not a grain of sand or a leaf, he can get lost and dissolve forever. Every year 80-120 thousand people go missing in the country, of which 50,000 are children. And this is practically the whole population of a small town. Some of the losses come back, but others seem to dissolve without a trace. There are many reasons why this happens.
Most of the lost people are found - this is a nice part of the statistics. Some immediately, some in a month, others in years. But there are those who never return home, and relatives can only guess about their fate.
Who are “missing”
Despite the fact that the number of lost people is measured in hundreds of thousands, in Russia there is still no clear definition of who the “missing” are. So far, there is only an unspoken definition that these are people who disappeared unexpectedly, under unclear circumstances and for no apparent reason.
Experts who are studying this phenomenon argue that according to the history of observations, it can be concluded that the peak of the loss of people occurs in autumn and spring. Traditionally, these seasons are considered at times to exacerbate various mental illnesses and problems in humans.
There are many reasons why people go missing - from voluntary to compulsory. It usually includes:
- everyday conflicts;
- escape from debt;
- falling into slavery;
- victims of crimes;
- disease;
- sects.
In the first case, they run away from annoying wives, parents, children, relatives. Any conflict, different little things - everything can cause a person to turn around and leave. By the way, law enforcement officers, even if they find such a loss, have no right to inform relatives of his new address (of course, this does not apply to children).
In the second situation, irresponsible citizens who have taken over loans (it does not matter - from friends or banks), prefer to quietly hide, believing that all debts for this will be automatically written off.
With those who fell into slavery, the situation is many times more serious and worse. It is believed that 80% of lost adults are those who left to work. As a rule, the scheme is quite simple: we went for quick and easy money, it did not work out instantly to get a good job, and it’s a shame to return home empty-handed. Somewhere they meet with a "kind person" who offers his help. For acquaintance and employment, he offers to drink, and after that the person finds himself already in some factory in the mountains in slavery, completely not remembering how he got here.
Ladies are more likely to find themselves in sexual slavery. Their passports and mobile phones are taken away, they are locked in closets and basements, so there is almost no chance of getting out, as well as contacting their relatives.
With the victims of crime, everything is clear. Met a rapist, pathological killer, maniac, sadist, etc. that's all. In most cases, victims of crime do not survive, and if they are found, then only bodies. There are also situations when a corpse is discovered quite late and it is not possible to immediately identify it, and the connection between the found dead and the wanted person is not visible.
People disappear, including due to illness, for example, if a person has a nervous breakdown or aggravation, as a result of which he loses his memory.
Cultists also contribute to the statistics of lost people. A lot of people leave the big world for communities scattered in different parts of the country. Finding a loss and returning it in this situation can be quite problematic. After all, sects are closed organizations.
Who most often disappears
If you look at the situation broadly, it seems that dysfunctional people who have regular family problems should disappear. Also, hard workers can be attributed to the category of losses. However, the statistics are relentless: according to reports, at least 5 officials of fairly high rank disappear annually in Russia, as well as about 200 people in uniform, which include both the military and law enforcement officers.
Another issue related to lost people is the timing of their search. They start looking for children immediately, which significantly increases the chances of finding them in hot pursuit. But they start looking for adults only after 3 days, considering that this period of time an adult independent person can just relax somewhere. According to the law, they are looking for a missing person for 15 years, after which they are declared dead.
