If your nail scissors have begun to cut badly, and the tweezers do not “bite off”, but tear the skin, then the tools should be sharpened. A special workshop will help to restore sharpness to the blades, but if you wish, you can try to sharpen the tools yourself.
It is necessary
- - a machine with a diamond wheel;
- - sandpaper;
- - a bar for sharpening kitchen knives;
- - napkins.
Instructions
Step 1
For high-quality sharpening, you will need a professional tool - a machine with a diamond wheel. It can be purchased from a hardware store or rented. Please note that the processing of the tool during its intensive use will have to be carried out every three to six months.
Step 2
Collect scissors, tweezers, and wire cutters that need sharpening. It is better to unscrew fragile scissors and nippers before processing. If the blades of the tongs diverge wide enough, they can be sharpened unassembled.
Step 3
Turn on the machine at minimum speed. Take one piece of scissors and run the edge of the blade over the working circle from beginning to end. Repeat the movement one more time. Wipe the blade with a thick, lint-free cloth. Work off the second part of the scissors. Assemble them by securing the halves with a screw and tightening it. Check the sharpness of the tool on a thin cloth or plastic - sharpened scissors should not wrinkle the material.
Step 4
Open the nail pliers to their maximum width and quickly move the edge of the blade along the working diamond wheel. Repeat the technique twice for each blade. Remove dust from the tongs with a thick cloth.
Step 5
If you do not have a diamond wheel at hand, and tweezers need urgent sharpening, sand them with sandpaper. Take a sheet of emery and cut it with tongs several times. Check the sharpness of the blades on a piece of cloth or plastic. If the forceps are not sharp enough, try again. This sharpening can be considered a temporary measure, as it will last only a few days.
Step 6
Nippers or tweezers can also be sharpened on a bar for sharpening kitchen knives. Open the tool and quickly, but carefully, slide the edge of the blade over the block. Check the degree of sharpening on a piece of polyethylene. This tweak can be repeated once a week.
