Currently, cottage construction and the improvement of already built private houses are widely developed. One of the main elements of home improvement is the availability of water supply in it. To maintain constant pressure in an autonomous water supply system, hydraulic accumulators are used.
Instructions
Step 1
A hydraulic accumulator is a device that maintains constant pressure in the water supply system and avoids water hammer. Hydraulic accumulators are used for both cold and hot water supply at home. Also, these devices are used in the heating system in the form of expansion tanks, which contain a supply of water necessary for the smooth operation of the home heating system.
Step 2
In appearance, the accumulator is a tank made of metal with a rubber membrane. There is a membrane in the tank, between it and the body - water and compressed air to maintain the water pressure in the system. When water enters through the membrane, the compressed air that is inside does not allow it to expand, and also prevents it from bursting. A modern accumulator has a bypass valve for supplying water to it.
Step 3
The device works according to the following principle: water from the water supply system enters the accumulator through the main pipe, while the operating pressure of the device ranges from 1.5 to 3.5 atmospheres, depending on the design pressure of the water supply system at home. When the specified pressure in the accumulator is reached, the water supply to it is stopped using the bypass valve. When using water supply from a well using a pump, the bypass valve does not allow water to flow out of the accumulator back into the well; at the beginning of water consumption, the device gives it to the water supply system of the house, and itself is refilled from the main pipe.
Step 4
As you can see, with the help of such a device, your water supply system will be fully operational even with low pressure in the main pipe. It is known that water shocks occur mainly at night due to the difference in pressure, and with an autonomous water supply system, such shocks are possible every time the pump is turned on. Water hammer can negatively affect the water supply system and lead to its breakdown in the form of ruptured pipe connections.
Step 5
By the way, the accumulator is supplied with a pressure gauge, with which you can control the pressure in the water supply system. It also has a safety valve that can release excess pressure that will be created by it.
