Dew is one of the most amazing natural phenomena. Where do these eye-catching drops of water come from in the early morning? Nature lives by its own laws and rules, which scientists try to explain.

Why does dew appear
Why does dew appear

The cause of dew is a natural process in which the atmosphere, hydrosphere and the earth's surface are constantly exchanging moisture. It arises from vapors, their movements in the atmosphere, followed by condensation in the form of periodic precipitation of various precipitation and runoff back into the world ocean. This process is called the large or world water cycle in nature. Along with it, there are two more small gyres: oceanic and continental. The first occurs directly over the ocean and, like the world circulation, consists in the continuous process of moisture movement. The continental water cycle takes place in the same way, but only over land areas. It should be noted that as a result of this process, the ocean loses more moisture than it receives. On the continents, the situation is the opposite: much more precipitation falls than evaporates. But in the end, all of them, ever falling on land, return to the ocean. Of all the types of precipitation that form as a result of the water cycle, dew is perhaps the most amazing. On hot summer days, moisture evaporates from the surface of lakes, rivers, streams, as well as plants and soil. At night, the air temperature drops and can reach a value that is sufficient for the saturation of water vapor. This condition is also called the dew point. The moment comes when the steam can no longer remain at this point and settles on the surface of the earth, plant leaves, etc. in the form of water droplets. But as soon as the first rays appear above the horizon, the dew will immediately begin to evaporate. Therefore, if you want to see this wonderful natural phenomenon, you need to do it at dawn. Since ancient times, people washed themselves with dew from grasses and trees and walked on it. Dew, absorbing the healing power of plants, sparkling in the morning sun, gave health and joy to a person.
