The abbreviation GOST can be found on any product: from a loaf of sausage to a brick. It is formed from the phrase "state standard" and belongs to the main categories that determine the requirements for the quality of any product. The use of GOSTs in production became the norm more than 85 years ago.
Instructions
Step 1
The State Committee for Standardization, which was engaged in the development of GOSTs, was created in 1925. Its main task was to develop a system of documentation for the main types of products manufactured in the USSR - from bread and sausages to machines and mechanisms. This documentation established binding standards governing the manufacturing technology and quality parameters of goods manufactured throughout the state. Today, GOST R certificates, developed already in Russia, have been added to the GOST standards in force since the times of the USSR.
Step 2
GOST, GOST R or RST (Russian Standard) indicated on the product labeling means that it fully complies with the quality parameters specified in this document and the regulatory and technical documentation currently in force in the country that applies to this type of product. On the territory of the Russian Federation, there are bodies accredited by RosTechRegulation (formerly the State Standard of the Russian Federation) that issue certificates and declarations for the conformity of a particular type of product with GOST R.
Step 3
Over time, the quality requirements also change, therefore, changes and additions are constantly being made to the existing GOSTs. On the territory of the country at this time there are about 25,000 GOSTs for a wide variety of goods.
Step 4
Since 2002, GOSTs have ceased to be mandatory and have become voluntary. Now the products are subject to technical regulations. At the present time, they have not yet been developed for all types of goods. Therefore, in the event that it is about the safety of people, the preservation of the environment and all types of property - federal, municipal or private, the requirements of GOSTs are mandatory.
Step 5
Many enterprises independently develop "Technical conditions" for their products, therefore, for example, the same sort of sausage can have a completely different taste and color, in accordance with the local document - TU of the enterprise producing it. Many buyers prefer to purchase products marked with the GOST badge and guaranteeing compliance with technology and workmanship.
