Speleotourism is an interesting activity. Caverns, underground lakes, stalactites and stalagmites will amaze your imagination. However, don't underestimate the dangers of such travel. Even in a small cave you can get lost.
Instructions
Step 1
Do not panic. If you realize that you are lost, the most important thing in such a situation is to calmly accept this fact and mentally prepare for the upcoming active actions. Panic will prevent you from collecting your thoughts. If from fear to forget about all available landmarks, the situation will only worsen.
Step 2
Act according to plan. If you are seriously preparing for the trip, you should have drawn up an emergency plan in advance. For example, if a person is lost, what signal should he give (light, sound)? Should he wait for the group or look for a way out on his own? Is it possible to signal for rescuers from outside the cave?
Step 3
It is advisable, before going on a speleological trip, to notify the tourist club about the place, time and duration of the proposed outing. Therefore, if at the appointed hour you do not get in touch, the search operation will begin. These things should be discussed in advance between the members of the group.
Step 4
Determine that the entire group is assembled. Only after making sure that no one is lost can you take any steps to save.
Step 5
Try to remember the last place where you moved along the route. If you have a map and you remember the time when you were at a particular point, you can, taking into account the average speed of movement, approximately calculate the distance to the desired place. If there were no forks on the way, then finding a known section of the path will not be difficult.
Step 6
Move along the walls. If you do not have a card, and no one will look for you, then you need to act as follows. Feel for the wall and move in the opposite direction. No matter how many forks and turns, in the end, you will get to this or that exit. If the cave is not very large, then you will not have to wander for a long time.
Step 7
When driving, focus on not tripping or getting injured. If the cave is large, then sooner or later you will still get out, but it will take much longer. Send distress signals and sounds whenever possible. There is a chance that they will be found and you will be helped.
