The bear has become a symbol of power by right. The animal lives in forests and arctic ice, living in the most difficult conditions, and is proudly called the master of the Russian taiga.
The bear is the largest and most powerful of all predators on the planet. It is distributed throughout the world, with the exception of Australia and Africa. Animals are distinguished from fellows by body size and long, sharp claws on all four paws. A one-on-one meeting with a bear in the wild is dangerous for humans.
Brown, red and black bears
The second in size and first in number is the brown bear. It lives in Eurasia and North America. A large number of individuals survived only in the untouched forests of Siberia, the USA and Canada. In other areas, due to the dense population and the development of forests, the bear lives in small groups.
Brown bears come in a variety of sizes, weighing between 80 and 750 kilograms, and come in three colors. It can have light red, brown and almost black hair.
The American grizzly bear is also a species of brown. A feature of brown bears is their ability to hibernate. Only severe hunger and a real threat to life can bring animals out of deep sleep.
The black bear, or baribal, lives next to the brown bear and is scattered throughout North America. It is distinguished by its small size (120-150 kg) and a light-colored muzzle. The pure black coat and large ears are also a characteristic feature.
The spectacled bear has red spots on the face and chest, is the rarest species among its relatives and lives in South America. Himalayan and Maltese bears are distinguished by light fur on the chest and small size.
Polar bears and panda
The polar bear has become the largest land predator. Its weight reaches 1000 kg, and its length is 3 meters. The polar bear has black skin and a transparent, dense coat that looks white.
Wool transmits sunlight to the skin, which stores it in heat. Thanks to this, polar bears can withstand the severe frosts of the Arctic. Animals feed exclusively on seal meat and fish.
They are excellent swimmers and can spend many days in the water, migrating in search of food. The polar bear rarely attacks humans and often comes close to housing.
The most peaceful and beautiful is the bamboo bear, or panda. It is black and white and eats only bamboo. Scientists attribute it to the raccoon family, but the Chinese call the animal a polar bear.
Bears are often the heroes of folk tales and legends. The animal is held in high esteem even among hunters. The bear's powerful and swift body is capable of speeds up to 50 km per hour, which rightfully makes it the most dangerous predator on Earth.
