From time to time, dozens of whales are thrown onto the shores of the ocean. And despite the efforts of the rescuers, many of them die. The reasons for this behavior of animals can depend on many factors.
The first reason can be called the changes taking place with the climate. Ocean currents bring too cold water from Antarctica and animals have to swim in shallow water to warm themselves. The next reason is the pollution of the world's oceans with oil products and radioactive waste. In addition, polyethylene is often found in the respiratory organs of dead whales. Disease in whales is also considered one of the reasons why mammals are washed ashore. The defeat of important organs of animals, which occurs as a result of the destructive activity of parasites, can lead to this behavior. And there is also a version according to which the whole flock suffers because of the leader's mental illness. Another reason is the mutual assistance of the whales. These animals always strive to help their relatives, and if one of the members of the pack gets into shallow water, then all the rest give signals for help. But often the rescue of a relative leads to the fact that the rest of the whales also get into trouble. Another theory is that there are too many whales, which lead to self-destruction. Thanks to such actions, the number of mammals always remains within the limits set by nature. Loss of orientation can also be one of the reasons whales get into shallow water. A geomagnetic obstacle in the ocean disrupts the whales' internal "compass", as a result of which they go astray and completely lose their ability to navigate. The noise from passing submarines deafens the whales. As a result, the external pressure drops and decompression sickness occurs, due to which the animals cease to navigate in the ocean, and then are thrown ashore. In addition, the loud noise scares the whales and forces them to stay close to the surface of the water.
