In adults, small age spots can sometimes appear on the iris. They are usually darker than the main eye color. These spots form in the same way as freckles on the body or face. They transform the eyes and it seems that their color has changed. As a person ages, the production of melanin in his body gradually decreases. This can be observed not only in the eyes. The hair becomes gray and the skin becomes pale. This is a natural process of withering of the body. Dark eyes change their color to a lighter one, gradually fading. Light eyes, on the contrary, become darker in old age. This can be explained by the fact that the iris becomes less transparent and thickens.
