Developed countries must be distinguished from rich countries. If the richest countries today are the states that feed the treasury from gas and oil sources, then the most developed countries are states with a high level of education, a well-thought-out social policy, and growing economic indicators.

New time - new ratings

In 2011, as part of the GSAM investment banking project, studies of the economies of different countries were carried out. After analyzing a variety of indicators, the members of the research group came to the following conclusion: the usual division of countries into states with developed and developing economies is outdated.

The leader of the GSAM group, Jim O'Neill, said that it is time to offer the world a new model in which states that demonstrate a stable increase in GDP will occupy the leading positions. According to this rating, the most developed economy in the world is the economy of China, showing a 15% increase in GDP annually. China is followed by Japan, France, Germany, Brazil, Great Britain and Italy.

Big seven

However, most researchers agree that it is necessary to apply the classical approach to the analysis of macroeconomic indicators. There is a “big seven” states that are still unwilling to part with their leadership positions. They have achieved the best indicators in terms of the level of development of economies, technologies, industries, and science. Industry of Canada, USA, Germany, France, Italy, Germany, Great Britain produces 80% of the world production volume, and this must be reckoned with.

Many of us are accustomed to consider the USA as the most developed country in the world. This is not surprising: the state has been holding its positions for over a hundred years. Recently, however, the US economy has fallen sharply. The economic crisis and the steady growth of the GDP of developing countries led to the fact that the United States began to give up its positions. By 2011, the national debt of the United States was $ 15.33 trillion. Despite these indicators, the United States is considered the leader in terms of innovative technology development.

Ranking by income per capita

The Netherlands is one of the most developed countries on the planet in terms of social policy and per capita income. In recent decades, the state has experienced several periods of recession, but currently the Dutch economy is showing stable growth. Today, the country occupies a leading position in the ratings, taking into account the level of development of energy infrastructure and network technologies. The Netherlands produces high quality equipment for telecommunications systems and other purposes.

In Qatar, no one is in a hurry. And there is no hurry: the country is considered the richest in the world, thanks to the presence of the richest deposits of gas and oil. The state ranks 3rd in the world in terms of gas reserves, 6th in terms of gas exports, and 21st in terms of exports of petroleum products. A beautiful, luxurious country whose population knows nothing about unemployment.
