Once the stove was in every home, it was its heart. After all, with its help it was possible to heat the home and feed the family. When gas appeared in every apartment, stoves and fireplaces began to go into oblivion. They began to be used only in baths and saunas. And even then, often, the installed stove is gas or electric. But now the fashion for wood-burning stoves is back, because you can enjoy them - listen to the crackling of burning wood, but look at the tongues of fire.

No matter how good the stove is, sooner or later it breaks down and starts to smoke. What could be the reason, and how to fix this problem? It is not so difficult to repair the oven with your own hands. It is much more difficult to determine why it broke. The main cause of smoke is poor traction, which is due to several factors. The stove may start to smoke during rainy and cold periods. This indicates that the chimney pipes and walls are too thin. In other words, the oven has insufficient thermal insulation. In this case, you should grease all the seams of the chimney and pipes, and then plaster them.

Another reason for smoke is too thick a layer of soot. A large amount in the chimney leads not only to an increase in the amount of firewood used, but can also cause a fire. Therefore, it is very important to regularly clean the firebox and chimney with a wire, pole or chain, to the end of which a large rag or brush is tied. You can use regular coarse salt.

Also, the reason for the failure of the stove is the cracks and gaps in the walls of the chimney. If the masonry of the stoves gives cracks, then this should be dealt with as follows: cover them with an earthen solution, and then plaster with a special oven mixture. This plaster contains asbestos fiber.

If there are burnt or cracked bricks in the oven, they should be replaced. To do this, remove the bad brick, clean the place well, moisten it with water, then put the clay solution. A new brick is briefly immersed in water, then a solution is applied to its top and sides and placed in a prepared place. After that, the stove should be plastered, which must be done only when it is heated. For this purpose, a special solution is mixed, since the usual one will simply crack. When preparing the oven mortar, mix plaster lime (3 kg), fine sand (9 kg), gypsum (1 kg) and asbestos (0.3 kg) and dilute all of the above with a solution of sodium chloride.
