An umbrella that protects from rain has become a part of everyday life so long ago that most people do not even have a question whether "a roof that is always with you" is necessary. And yet, there are not so few lovers of walking in the rain, not afraid of the vagaries of nature and not tolerating when their hands are busy all the time. It is pointless to persuade them, but doubters should find out why it is not recommended to do without an umbrella.

Why do you need an umbrella?

If the prospect of falling under a light summer mushroom rain frightens few people, then a downpour going through a solid wall is less attractive - it is impossible to get out from under the streams of water without getting wet to the skin. Spending an hour or two in wet clothes is enough to catch a cold. If the rain is cold, it is not far from more serious problems than a small runny nose.

In winter, an umbrella is needed less often than in the warm season, but when thaws and snowfalls come, on the street you can often find people covering themselves with an umbrella from wet snow flakes flying in the face.

As strange as it may sound, rainwater can leave stubborn stains on clothes. Silk, velvet and wool, caught in the rain, quickly become covered with ugly stains. New, newly worn clothes that have never been washed, and clothes made of fragilely dyed fabrics especially suffer from water drops - a bright dress or blouse can shed after rain so that it will be impossible to restore the original look of the thing. Also, suede clothes and accessories do not tolerate rainwater.

If you live in an ecologically clean area, where there are no smoking factories or congested roads, you can consider yourself lucky - rainwater here can serve as the standard of purity. Inhabitants of megalopolises and those who live in the vicinity of industrial enterprises are in a worse position - acid rain is common here. Regular contact with the skin and hair of rainwater, polluted by emissions from factories and cars, causes allergic reactions, walking under acid rain threatens respiratory diseases.

How to choose an umbrella?

Classic cane umbrellas are not only rain protection, but also a stylish accessory. However, they are not always suitable for daily use due to their large size. If you have to move around the city a lot, it is better to carry a compact, lightweight umbrella that fits easily even in a small bag and weighs no more than 500 grams.

Sun umbrellas fell out of use when tanning became fashionable. However, everything is returning, and women who cover their delicate skin from ultraviolet rays with graceful lace umbrellas do not look so extravagant anymore.

Automatic umbrellas are very convenient, but they break more often than mechanical umbrellas. It is not worth saving - cheap umbrellas, as a rule, are fragile, cannot withstand frequent openings and strong winds and can fail at the most unexpected moment.

Conservative people prefer umbrellas of discreet colors, lovers of bright colors can choose an umbrella in the form of a bright flower, transparent, with patterns, in the form of a square, a triangle and even a heart. For originals, manufacturers offer umbrellas with a radio mounted in the handle, which change color under running water and even glow in the dark.
