Unfortunately, on the territory of our country there are still many places where fast and inexpensive Internet is not available. There are no optical lines and there is no unlimited access to the network. Many people in such conditions use satellite Internet, and large files are obtained using the so-called fishing.
What is satellite fishing for?
The principle of satellite Internet operation is simple. With the help of an antenna and a DVB-card installed in the PC, the incoming signal is received, and outgoing traffic is sent to the network via another channel. Most often, landline or cellular telephone communication is used in this capacity.
Usually satellite tariff plans do not provide for full-fledged unlimited traffic - it is limited to a certain volume. After its exhaustion, the provider greatly reduces the bandwidth of the channel. Another option is to pay for each megabyte consumed. Downloading movies, games and other large files in such conditions is difficult or very expensive.
To solve this problem, satellite fishing is used. It is a catch of individual files from the total data stream transmitted by the satellite. Information packets intended for a specific destination are usually sent unencrypted. With certain skills, software and hardware, you can download files from this stream to your PC.
The main advantage of satellite fishing is that it allows you to download information in any volume for free. On the other hand, you will be forced to collect the entire stream transmitted by the satellite, including numerous digital junk and damaged packets, with the need for subsequent sorting. This method is not suitable for visiting websites either.
How satellite fishing works
You will need a set of equipment. This is the plate itself with a converter, a DVB card and a computer. You can do without a modem, as there is no outgoing traffic during fishing.
The quality of signal reception and processing must be high. If some of the packages are lost while downloading the file, you will have nowhere to take them, and it simply will not open. The larger the file size, the longer it takes to download, which increases the risk of damage.
Install an antenna of a sufficiently large size - the quality of reception depends on its diameter. You will need a Ku-band converter. Choose a DVB card with the highest possible bandwidth - this characteristic plays an important role in the fishing process. Use a productive computer. The more powerful it is, the faster information processing will take place.
Special programs are used to extract files from the stream. They differ in interface and capabilities; they can be paid or free. The most popular are SkyGrabber, TurboGrabber, and SkyNet. A list of satellites and tuning data can be found on specialized sites. There you can also see where the reception of a high-quality signal is possible.
The main difficulty is sorting the downloaded content. The files in the stream have service names that only the equipment of the rightful recipient can recognize. You won't be able to get the movie you want from the stream. But it is possible to sort files by type using software filters. For example, if you don't need programs, just add the ".exe" files to the exclusions.
