Gray is a versatile color. Different shades of gray are worn by both brunettes and blondes or brown-haired women. Gray is suitable for blue-eyed, brown-eyed or green-eyed, white-skinned and fair-skinned. In addition, it also has the dignity to be combined with almost all bright saturated colors.
How do you find the right shade of gray?
When choosing a suitable shade of gray, be aware of the contrast level of your appearance. So, the owners of high contrast (those people whose hair and skin colors are very different, contrast with each other) can wear pure and richer colors - for example, black and snow-white. People with less contrast (for example, owners of light brown hair, brown eyes and dark skin) should choose more "blurry", calm shades - including gray.
It is equally important to consider the warmth or coldness of your natural color type when choosing the right shade of gray. People with a "cold" appearance (color types "summer" and "winter") are similar in shades:
- silver gray;
- gray-blue;
- ashy, - gray-blue, - graphite.
On the contrary, the "warm" color type ("autumn" and "spring") will decorate the shades formed from mixing gray and brown:
- cocoa;
- coffee with milk;
- smoky brown;
- sand.
At the same time, you can combine the selected shade of gray in the image with one or two of your favorite colors, but it is better to stop at the brightest shades.
We make combinations with gray
Gray is a basic color. This means that it is able to match with any bright colors. This can be easily seen with a simple example. Take any gray item and attach something bright to it: a coral beret, a turquoise blouse, yellow breeches or an iris flower. You will see how these objects, placed on a gray background, become brighter. On the contrary, objects of pastel colors on a gray background will become paler, faded.
The above rule can be applied to casual wear. For example, a classic gray cashmere pullover is absolutely basic. Such a pullover can be worn with a skirt of any style and color: a straight classic business style skirt, a flared skirt in rich red, blue or purple, as well as a bold translucent turquoise floor-length skirt. Plus, this versatile gray jumper, paired with sky blue boyfriend jeans and red or orange wedge sneakers, will keep you warm on your fall walk in the park.
Do not be afraid that a gray thing will turn out to be too boring, because you can always "paint" it with bright accessories: a raspberry scarf, yellow beads, massive earrings of silver or golden shades.
One of the most interesting combinations of the last season is the play of smoky gray with rich yellow-orange. Imagine a bride dressed not in traditional white, but in an airy smoky gray dress. Such a bride is mysterious and unique, she seems to hover above the ground, wrapped in a translucent cloud. In her hands, a girl must certainly hold a yellow-orange bouquet of roses or ranunculus - in this case, the union of the severity of gray and the juiciness of yellow creates a completely unforgettable effect.
