Conscience certainly comes first among the moral categories. This is the most mysterious moral category. It is only valuable when it is not only an external manifestation of ethical features imposed by society, but when it turns into the inner necessity of a person.

Since ancient times, man has tried to find an explanation for the phenomenon of conscience. She was considered an innate quality that is not subject to study, and even divine illumination that descends on a person as grace or as a result of some events.

The presence of conscience within a person is unambiguously impossible without his sensual attitude to the world. In addition, the concept of conscience as the main moral category is adjacent to the concept of good and evil. A person is guided by the definition of "what is good and what is bad." If he nevertheless performs some actions, deviating from the "good-bad" landmark, then his conscience begins to torment him. Thus, the concept of conscience is impossible without experience. Hegel also called conscience "a moral lamp illuminating a good path."

The mystery of conscience is that it belongs not only to the category of the conscious, but also of the unconscious. Sometimes a person wants to get away from moral principles, to give up, but his conscience hinders him, that is, this moral and ethical category often cannot be controlled by reason. According to psychologists, not everyone has a developed conscience. It is characteristic of people endowed with a rich inner world, relative freedom, the ability to sympathize and compassion, a high level of self-demands. Without this, the formation of conscience as a moral category is impossible.

In world ethics, there are different definitions of conscience. According to Heidegger, conscience is a call for freedom. It makes a person return from the lost world to the real world, based on the category of "nothing". An interesting look at the conscience of the Kazakh scientist Shakarim, who believes that in order to change the world and a person as a whole, it is necessary to instill a conscience. This must be done from a young age and throughout life, so that a person can see his vices. By realizing them, he can become better.

Thus, conscience is the most important category of ethics, which determines the moral responsibility of a person to himself and to society. It combines the rational and emotional components of a person. If any actions cause disharmony within a person, shame, we can say that conscience is present in him, and this is good.
