What to do to keep your fingers from hurting when playing the piano
Novice pianists often face pain in their fingers. Squeezed or, on the contrary, too relaxed fingers during the game can lead to very unfavorable consequences. The so-called “overplayed hands” syndrome occurs when the pianist feels discomfort or even pain while playing, but nevertheless continues to practice more intensely. Meanwhile, it is the correct movements that are the key to comfortable playing and correct sound extraction.
If a novice pianist is constantly in a pinched state, breathing incorrectly, straining his hands and fingers too much, his hands do not relax and his fingers hurt. To prevent your fingers from hurting, you need to adhere to the rules of playing the piano, thanks to which you can not only get rid of pain, but also later avoid more complex problems, such as diseases of the joints of the fingers and hands.
The importance of correct movement
In order to stop feeling discomfort during the game, you need to sit with your back straight, your elbows should not be too loose or too constrained, you should not press or spread your elbows to the side, you should not relax or pinch your wrists, you should not wave your fingers high, you cannot play like this so that your fingers are flaccid. Also, pain can be caused by too strong pressure and pressure on the fingers, active work with the elbows, unnecessary movements of the body. Improper breathing can also cause discomfort.
If the movements are performed correctly, breathe evenly, then discomfort in the hands and fingers can be minimized. In addition, you cannot overdo it and spend too much time at the instrument, even if an important concert or exam is approaching.
