Construction of the Skolkovo innovation center in Russia continues. Developed infrastructure is vital for such an advanced location. The center should become the largest testing ground for the Russian economy, so it is important to establish fast communication between Skolkovo and the capital.
The Aeroexpress company undertook to launch electric trains between Moscow and Skolkovo. The company carries out passenger transportation by rail, connecting airports and the capital. It was "Aeroexpress" that established the movement of electric trains in Sochi. The direction to Skolkovo will be launched in 2014.
The project of passenger railway communication with the innovation center will be implemented along with the projects Moscow-Usovo and Moscow-Odintsovo. Completed tracks will be reconstructed and head highways will be built. The existing stations will also be renovated or additional ones will be built.
Ordinary "green" commuter trains will run in the same schedule, Aeroexpress trains to Skolkovo will not interfere with their work at all. On the projects to Odintsovo and Usovo, "paperwork" is already underway, and preparation on the ground and the construction itself will soon begin.
Russian Railways invested 155 million rubles in these lines. The state plans an investment in the amount of 1.250 billion rubles. in 2012 and another 3.8 billion rubles. in 2013. Aeroexpress trains will run from 6 am to midnight Moscow time, every half hour during business hours and an hour later during the rest. But the schedule is still under development, like the entire project as a whole.
The trains themselves are chosen from the ED4MKM-Aero models produced by Transmashholding and Desiro RUS by the German concern Siemens. If Desiro RUS machines are approved, they will be produced in the Russian Federation.
The Skolkovo Innovation Center is growing rapidly; at the end of August 2012 it is planned to start construction of a business center with many offices of large partner companies. The area of this building will be 50,000 square meters. At the moment, the innovation center includes 583 companies, but their number is constantly growing. Infrastructure development is vital for towns like Skolkovo.
