A tornado or tornado is a natural disaster that can lead not only to enormous material damage, but also to the death of people. And although tornadoes are less common in Russia than in North America or Europe, single tornadoes, which have resulted in severe destruction and deaths, are now and then recorded. For example, in Moscow, the last intense tornado was in 1998, as a result of this natural disaster, about 200 people were injured, 8 were killed.
Necessary
- - emergency kit;
- - a safe haven.
Instructions
Step 1
If you are notified in advance of a possible hurricane in the near future, prepare everything you need, put it in a bag made of dense material and place it where you can easily and quickly take it all with you. The "emergency kit" includes drinking water in plastic bottles, chocolate and dried fruit, a first aid kit, your documents, a mobile phone with a fully charged battery and a flashlight.
Step 2
Consider in advance what place in the house is best for you to take refuge there during a tornado. In America, special equipped shelters are being built for this case, in Russia, the best option is a basement. If you don't have a basement, choose a windowless space in the interior of your home, such as a bath or hallway. It is better to go down from the upper floors. Stairs serve as a good shelter in a private house without basements. They are usually very strong and you can grab onto their railings if the elements break into your home.
Step 3
When you are in the safest place, sit on the floor, bend as low as possible, cover your head and neck with your hands to protect them from flying debris. If you have a heavy table, crawl under it. You can hold a thick book over your head, place blankets and pillows around you, cover yourself with a mattress. But don't waste time collecting all of this around the house when the tornado has already begun. If you have a massive large closet in the hallway, you can hide in it.
Step 4
If a disaster catches you on the street, jump into a ditch or hole, lie flat and cover your head with your hands. Never stay in transport, do not seek refuge under a bridge or overpass.
