Polymer clay can take many forms in the hands of a resourceful eccentric. Decorations made from it, various accessories that perfectly dilute the overall decorating background, are becoming popular. Plastic is a pliable thing until it is frozen. Any flaw in the workpiece contributes to the appearance of rough surfaces that are not very pleasant to the touch. What if you spent a lot of time making plastic jewelry, and they turned out to be not as smooth as you would like?
Instructions
Step 1
Sand your product. Place the workpiece in water for 10-15 minutes. Look for an emery cloth that is labeled for use in water. Rub the product without removing it from the water. You don't need to rub in one place for a long time, plastic is a delicate thing, scratches are formed in no time. Circular movements and a constant change of skin will help get rid of any irregularities on the surface of the product.
Step 2
If you need to sand small parts, such as beads, use the polishing blocks that are used in manicure.
Step 3
Use special sanding fluids - these are usually sold at parts stores and are called "Polish". Give preference to materials with a wax component, they stay on the surface longer. Add these mixtures to the flattened surfaces of the plastic and rub in with light circular motions. The composition will fill microcracks and give the surface a pleasant shine. However, these mixtures will certainly not hide serious scratches.
Step 4
For large surfaces, adapt the foam sheets used to sand the car body. It is not difficult to find them, in any specialty store you can buy them at a reasonable price. For the convenience of work, take a polishing machine and measure the size of its head, which must be removed beforehand. Cut the foam disc to your measurements and glue it to the machine. Start the device and walk over the entire surface of the plastic, pay attention to the fact that the foam rubber does not slip, otherwise you will get scratches instead of shine.
Step 5
In an industrial environment, use a grinding and calibrating machine. They are often used to process wood, but they do an excellent job with both plastic and plexiglass.
Step 6
Our ancestors polished any decoration with a carpet. Who knows, maybe the plastic, which was rubbed against the old carpet with effort, will sparkle with a new shine.
