Puttying allows you to level the surface of the walls in the room before painting the walls or pasting them with wallpaper. This work is carried out using a special tool - a spatula. At each stage of finishing different sections of the wall, a different way of handling the tool is applied.

Step 1
When applying the mixture to the base and leveling it, the movements can be arbitrary, but it is more correct to make them mutually perpendicular. The tool is designed so that when pressed, its blade bends. At the same time, the edges of the working surface are stronger than the middle.
Step 2
At the initial stage of finishing the walls with putty, overflows of the mixture are often formed on them. This is due to poor extrusion at the edges. To reduce the amount of sagging, gradually lower the trowel angle towards the base. For example, when starting to stretch the mix, hold the blade at a 50 ° angle and end at a 15 ° angle to the wall surface.
Step 3
Applying from left to right a layer no more than a millimeter thick, hold the trowel so that the right side of the canvas is slightly higher than the left. In this case, the left side of the strip lays down in a smooth, even layer. Take up the bead on the right side with a trowel and use to lay the next strip.
Step 4
When applying the putty from top to bottom, hold the trowel with the shortened side to the left, and when filling from bottom to top, to the right. Remember that if you hold the trowel at an 80 ° angle, you will get the thinnest layer of the mixture applied, so a 60 ° angle is most optimal.
Step 5
Since the corners are tilted up when pressing on the trowel, press them in with your other hand when finishing the corners of the room. Either press down with your index finger, or with three to four fingers of your free hand, while moving the tool to the desired side from its center.
Step 6
To cut or smoothly go around the bump with the middle of the trowel, hold it with both hands by the corners of the tool surface. When leveling the wall by rubbing in the putty and making smooth bends, tilt the trowel towards the wall surface. To smooth holes in the wall, hold the tool perpendicular to the wall.
