Tsunami in Japanese means "harbor wave" or "wave in the bay". This natural phenomenon is one or several huge waves that reach 10-50 m in height near the coast.
Instructions
Step 1
Is it possible to escape the destructive power of the tsunami? Yes, if you find out in time about the impending danger. It must be reported to the warning services (through any media or by means of a signal siren) about it. Listen carefully to the message as it tells you what time and where the evacuation takes place. Quickly collect only valuable things and go to the specified address. Since the time for a tsunami to arrive can range from 20 minutes to about 18-20 hours, don't waste a moment.
Step 2
Pay attention to the behavior of pets. As a rule, they predict an impending disaster well in advance of the warning service. If animals tend to leave the coastline as far as possible, this is a clear signal of an approaching tsunami.
Step 3
If the surf noise abruptly subsides and the tide drops by several tens or even hundreds of meters, try to leave the coastline as soon as possible. Tsunami will leave you 5 to 30 minutes to rescue. You need to be 2-3 km from the sea.
Step 4
If there are hills nearby, run towards them. Your task is to climb one of them as high as possible, ideally 40-50 m. Under no circumstances choose a path along river valleys or streams, during this period they can be no less dangerous. Try to take off your clothes in time.
Step 5
It is dangerous to stay in high-rise buildings during a tsunami. The wave can be of such destructive force that the foundation will not withstand. But if there is no way to escape, choose a room without heavy objects that can fall and crush you, as well as without mirrors and, if possible, without windows. Take a seat in the corner, cover your head with your hands.
Step 6
Once in the boat, you need to turn on the engine or row into the open sea. The farther you are from the coast, the higher the likelihood of staying alive, as in the open sea a tsunami looks like a storm of medium strength. If you find yourself in the water, try to get some air and group.
