Water kayaking trips are a great way to spend a vacation for both beginners and seasoned tourists. If you like fishing, bonfire, forest and songs with a guitar - this adventure can be very exciting. One of the obstacles on the way to the long-awaited journey can be the lack of a kayak. If, for one reason or another, you do not want to buy a ready-made boat, you can try to build it yourself.

Necessary

  • - plywood;
  • - wooden slats;
  • - timber;
  • - screws;
  • - glue;
  • - dye;
  • - saw;
  • - drying oil

Instructions

Step 1

Make frames

Make a drawing of the parts. Cut out paper patterns for the outer and middle frames. Break down according to the drawing and carefully saw out the parts. Assemble the overlapping frames with screws and glue.

Step 2

Make a slipway. Cut it off with a saw and make three grooves for installing the frames. Sheathe the bevels of the slipway with planks. Attach the brace legs securely. Nail the rail connecting the legs to the slipboard.

Step 3

Saw off the frames to the desired length. Fasten them firmly in the grooves made earlier with nails and rails. Coat the attachment points with glue and tighten with screws.

Step 4

Fasten the rods

Place the post against the bevel of the slipboard and mark the cut line by bending the keel strip on both sides. Saw off the post along the marked line and install it in place. Carefully measure the length of the zygomatic and keel rails and cut them in accordance with the measurements made. Cut the slats into the post and secure them with screws. Coat the joints with glue. Blank off pins, frames and slats to ensure a snug fit.

Step 5

Make paper patterns for the bottom and side skin of the kayak. Cut the plywood according to the pattern. Start sheathing the kayak from the side surfaces. Mark the places where the plywood sheets are attached. Fasten the casing with screws. It is recommended to screw in the screws in a staggered manner, with a step of 5 cm. Sheathe the bottom by analogy with the side paneling. Attach the keel rail.

Step 6

Detach the kayak from the slipway. Saw off the protruding parts of the pins and frames. Smooth the edges of the sheathing carefully.

Step 7

Cover the kayak with hot linseed oil. Dry, then putty and sand the outer surface of the kayak. Cover with another layer of linseed oil and paint with oil paint.

Step 8

Determine the center of gravity of the kayak and set up the seats.
