It happens that it becomes necessary to make a hole in a glass surface. This work is very painstaking, so it must be done with extreme care and high precision. In order for everything to work out the first time, you need to choose the right method.

Instructions

Step 1

To make a hole in the glass, you need a simple drill, which must be heated before use. After the tip of the drill has turned white, immediately press it into the sealing wax, where you need to hold it until it stops melting. Throughout the entire process, the tip of the drill must be moistened with turpentine or water. If you need to make a hole in a small glass object, then the hole can be made directly in the water.

Step 2

Glass can also be drilled with copper wire. To do this, you will need paste and copper wire. The paste can be made using camphor, turpentine and coarse emery. To do this, take one part of camphor, mix it with two parts of turpentine and four parts of emery, mix everything thoroughly. Apply the resulting mixture to the place where you want to make a hole, now you can insert a copper wire into the cartridge and start drilling.

Step 3

If you need to drill a hole in thick glass with a diameter of more than five millimeters, then it is best to use a copper pipe for this, which must be clamped in the chuck of the drilling machine. It must be remembered that the diameter of the pipe you choose must be smaller than the hole itself. To do this, make a sand or grease fence around the desired hole on the glass. Pour corundum powder inside the formed ring, which can be made from a crushed emery wheel. Fill the powder with water until a liquid consistency is obtained and can be drilled.

Step 4

The hole can also be made with molten solder. To do this, treat the glass surface with acetone or alcohol. Make a slide of wet river sand in the required place, in which, using a stick, make a depression with the size of the diameter of the required hole. Pour molten solder into the resulting mold, the approximate temperature of which is about 300 degrees. When the solder has cooled, remove the sand and remove the solder cone with a piece of glass adhered to it.

Step 5

Be sure to pay attention to the fact that the glass lies on a flat and sufficiently hard surface. It is forbidden to press hard on the glass object, otherwise, it may burst, moreover, this may happen at the most inopportune moment for you. It is worth preparing for the fact that this work will take up a lot of your time. But with this it is better not to rush and make a hole the first time, than to redo everything again later.
