Themed trains of the Moscow Metro are a real gem of the Moscow metro. Such compositions have their own name, original external and internal design. The most interesting thing is that the carriages do not have any advertising. There are several themed metro trains in Moscow.
Today the Moscow metro contains eight thematic trains. Each of them runs only on its own line. They do not adhere to any schedule, they operate only when all the cars are in full serviceability.
The oldest themed metro train in Moscow is the People's Opolchenets train. This name was given to him in 1988. Initially, it differed from the rest of the compositions only by the inscription on the case. Reconstruction of the "Narodniy militia" was carried out in 2006 in honor of the 65th anniversary of the battle near Moscow. The train went along the Zamoskvoretskaya line, inside the cars were decorated with posters telling the history of the subway during the Great Patriotic War and about the exploits of the militia.
The next theme train on the lines of the Moscow metro was Kurskaya Duga, released in 2003. It is also timed to coincide with the anniversary of hostilities, the 60th anniversary of the battle at the site of the same name. The train follows the Sokolnicheskaya line, each carriage depicts the St. George ribbon, the name "Kursk Bulge", as well as red flags and stars.
The third themed Moscow metro train was launched in 2006 on the Sokolnicheskaya line. Its name - "Red Arrow" - speaks for itself: the release of the registered cars took place in honor of the 75th anniversary of the famous train of the same name, plying between St. Petersburg and Moscow. This metro train is painted in red, inside the carriages are also used the corporate colors of the famous express.
The Aquarelle theme train became the first for the Arbatsko-Pokrovskaya line and the fourth for the Moscow metro. It was released on the rails in 2007 with an exposition of watercolors by the popular artist Sergei Andriyaka. Inside, the train is designed like an art gallery, even a special lighting design has been created for better perception and preservation of the paintings.
The next thematic train was the Reading Moscow train, which was put into operation in 2008 from the Vorobyovy Gory station. It has six carriages, each of which is decorated in its own literary genre. The Aquarelle theme train runs along the Circle Line.
In honor of the 75th anniversary of the Moscow metro, in 2010, the Sokolnicheskaya line accepted another thematic composition "Retro train". Its carriages are made in the same stylistic design, typical for the first trains: sconces-lamps, spring sofas made of artificial leather and decorative cladding of the 30s.
The seventh theme train was named "Poetry in the Metro". It entered the Filevskaya metro line in 2010. The second literary composition is dedicated to the work of Chilean poets. To make the acquaintance truly fruitful, the works are presented in two languages: Spanish and Russian.
On August 1, 2012, a ceremonial departure from the Vystavochnaya station of the eighth thematic metro train in Moscow took place. Its creation was timed to the anniversary of the Russian Railways. The name of the train corresponds to “175 years of Russian railways”. Inside, the cars are decorated with posters with the history of the development of railway transport in the country. A new train runs along the Circle Line.
