For sewing fox fur products, they often use their hunting trophies. The skin should be soft and comfortable to work with. This is achieved by adhering to the mandatory techniques for dressing it.
Necessary
Knife, wooden board or conical frame, 2 plastic vats, water, acetic acid, table salt, 2 furacilin tablets, willow branches and bark, 200 g rye flour, washing powder, baking soda, glycerin, eggs, fish oil, ammonia, soap
Instructions
Step 1
Examine the fox's skin. Remove burrs and other large dirt particles from the fur without pulling out hairs. Wash the skin in an aqueous solution of neutral detergent powder (2-3 g / l). Rinse the skin thoroughly in water, squeeze it and put it in a soaking solution for 12 hours (50 g of table salt, 2 tablets of furacilin and 10 g of acetic acid per 1 liter of water). Check the condition of the skin (flesh) after soaking. If the skin is rough to the touch and does not wrinkle well in your hand, you should put the skin again in a freshly prepared solution.
Step 2
Remove residual grease and films from the flesh. To do this, turn the skin out and stretch, straightening all the folds, onto a board or conical shape. Take a dull knife and scrape off any unnecessary residue. Pay special attention to working on the abdomen. Here the flesh is much thinner than elsewhere and is easy to break through. Wash the skin again in an aqueous solution of neutral detergent powder (2-3 g / l) and rinse. At the next stage of processing, the fox skin is immersed for 2 days in a fermented solution (30 g of table salt, 7 g of yeast, 0.5 g of baking soda, 200 g of rye flour, per 1 liter of hot water). After the fermenting solution, put the straightened skin under oppression for two days. Rinse the skin from the fermented solution.
Step 3
Tan the skin. To do this, prepare a willow solution: steam the bark and branches of the willow, strain the solution by adding 60 g of table salt. Leave the skin in this solution for 12 hours. Readiness is determined by the color of the cut of the skin: the tanning solution must soak the skin throughout its entire thickness.
Step 4
For final dressing, apply a softening emulsion to the flesh. The emulsion (glycerin and yolk in a 1: 1 ratio, 10 ml of ammonia, 0.5 liters of fish oil, 50 g of soap for 0.5 liters of hot water) soaks the folded skin for several hours, after which the skin is again pulled onto the conical frame. Knead and stretch the dry skin until the flesh is soft. Turn out the skin and comb through the fur.
