Instructions

Step 1

The men's fashion of that time seemed to be contrasted with the warlike nature of men. Over their linen lower shirts, they wore long tunics that reached the ankles, on which they wore upper dresses without a belt or sleeves. There were practically no legs visible from under these clothes. The common people wore tunics about knee length over their undershirts.

Step 2

Quite wide linen pantaloons in the 12th century gave way to stockings or chausses, they were worn by representatives of the aristocracy. Pantaloons became the property of the common people, the peasants wore them with boots or leggings. At court, high society preferred to wear not very comfortable shoes with long pointed toes.

Step 3

It was at this time that the fashion for curly hair and a shaved face came. Beards are preserved only among the peasantry or among the elderly. In the twelfth century, a huge number of different headdresses were invented, the most popular of which were colored berets with fur trim and pointed flat-brimmed hats. Hats with sharp ends that went down to the very forehead were widespread.

Step 4

The women's outfit consisted of a shirt or lower tunic, which were sewn of linen. On such a shirt, they put on another ankle-length tunic, and over it - a loose-fitting dress. In some cases, this dress was covered with another sleeveless tunic with deep armholes. In some cases, instead of loose dresses, women wore tight tunics with sleeves of a special shape - they were tight-fitting to the elbow, and below they expanded significantly. By the end of the 12th century, women's tunics acquired side lacing, which made it possible to fit clothes exactly to the figure. Aristocrats most often wore such dresses with long belts, which were wrapped several times around the waist and hips and fastened with a special knot on the stomach.

Step 5

Common women also wore long layered clothing. However, they were most often limited to an undershirt and one tunic or dress. During work, interfering clothing floors were tied with belts, this gave freedom of movement.

Step 6

According to Christian traditions, married women of any class were required to cover their heads. Noble women wore veils that were much shorter in front than in the back. In the 12th century, sophisticated designs were created on the heads of noble women, often using false hair. These veiled hairstyles looked very unusual. Common women covered their heads with ordinary headscarves made of dense fabric.
